This course consists of five parts. Each of the five presentations has a theory and practical component led by an instructor, allowing for varied student instructor interactions, aiding in the learning and training process with a diversity of worker backgrounds. Each of the practical sessions has a student check list of relevant topics which each student individually completes and the instructor signs. The completed check lists are retained by the employer as records of training. There is

Introduction
1. An introduction to the smelter operation
General performance objective: describes an overview of where the smelting process fits in the progression of mineral development by examining the path from mining, milling to the final smelting of mineral ore. The regulations that affect the workers including mining act and regulations. Responsibility of management, supervision and workers to be dually diligent; the role of training, common core, ministry of labor and the ministry of training colleges and universities, job procedures, the rights and responsibilities of a worker.
2. U1590.0 Safety- Protect Self and Others
General performance objective: Select, adjust, wear and maintain ppe and protect self and others in the workplace, by inspecting for hazardous conditions and taking appropriate action to guard and/or remove same. All work must be done in compliance with applicable acts, regulations, standards and company standards.
3. U1591.0 Work Safety in a Smelter Environment
General performance objective: Work safe in a smelter environment. All work must be done in compliance with applicable act, regulations, standards, and company standards.
4. U1596.0 Deal with Designated and Other Hazardous Substances
General performance objective: Deal with designated and hazardous substances safely and efficiently. All tasks must be done in compliance with applicable act, regulation standards and company standards.
5. U1597.0 Operate Elevator
General performance objective: Operate elevators to move materials, supplies, equipment and personnel. All work must be done in compliance with applicable act, regulations, standards and company standards.
